COLLIER ANIMAL HOSPITAL SERVICES
Veterinary Prevention and Wellness Medicine
Collier Animal Hospital promotes preventative health care through bi-annual examinations. By examining your pet every 6 months, we can detect new problems or monitor any changes that have occurred. Remember, every 6 months of aging to a dog or cat can be similar to a person aging 2-4 years. At these wellness visits we take a thorough history, perform a comprehensive physical examination, administer any vaccinations that may be needed, and run any diagnostic tests necessary for your pet based on age and lifestyle.
Vaccinations are recommended and given based on your pet’s age, lifestyle, and in accordance with the American Veterinary Medical Association’s and American Animal Hospital Association’s recommendations.
As your pet ages it is important to monitor internal organ functioning through simple blood testing similar to what your physician recommends for you. The earlier problems, such as kidney disease, are detected, the earlier preventative measures can be taken and the longer your pet will live. We recommend baseline blood-work when an animal is 3-4 years of age and then yearly for 7 years and older.
